George R.R. Martin confirms ‘The Winds of Winter’ will not be a happy book

LONDON — Guess what, Game of Thrones fans? The Winds of Winter, if you can believe it, is not going to be a happy read.

George R. R. Martin has confirmed as much.

While answering questions onstage at Guadalajara International Book Fair, the author addressed the tone of his next instalment.

“There are a lot of dark chapters right now in the book that I’m writing,” he said. “You know, it is called The Winds of Winter, and I’ve been telling you for 20 years that winter was coming. And winter’s the time when things die, and you know… cold, and ice, and darkness fills the world. Read more…

George R.R. Martin heads to Mexico before buckling down on ‘Winds of Winter’

The North remembers, and the South will too. 

George R. R. Martin, author of A Song of Ice and Fire, will head to Guadalajara on Nov. 30 for the International Book Fair, his last public appearance of 2017 and one of few scheduled between now and when he finishes writing his next book.

Martin will join the conference as a speaker and special guest, where he will do press interviews and a live streaming event in addition to signing books.

“I expect I will be doing some tequila tasting as well,” he wrote on his blog, because what better research for Westerosi history than to drink? Read more…
