Muslim-owned restaurant is offering free meals to the homeless this Christmas

A Turkish restaurant in London has decided to celebrate Christmas with a loving act of charity.

Shish Restaurant, which is Muslim-owned and based in Sidcup, is offering free meals to the homeless over the coming holiday period, The Telegraph reports.

Throughout the day, from noon until 6 p.m., the homeless and elderly will be able to enjoy a free three-course meal, with a main entrée choice of chicken casserole, vegetarian casserole or chicken shish (grilled chicken served on skewers), along with soup or cacik (Turkish yoghurt) and a dessert of rice pudding. Two-year-old foster child Buddy and his Labradoodle best friend, Reagan, were pals from the moment they met.

“My daughter was fostering two boys, ages two and five,” Sandi Swiridoff, Buddy’s grandmother told Mashable, “When the time came for them to move to a forever family my heart ached at the thought of no longer being involved in their lives.”

LOS ANGELES — Steve Aoki, celebrity esports owner of team Rogue, linked up with Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance on Wednesday for a charity Overwatch match in Los Angeles. 

The musical duo hopes to raise $10,000 for Best Buddies and National Alliance on Mental Illness. The stream will begin Wednesday at 5 p.m. PT on Aoki’s Twitch channel
