Starbucks app to get voice ordering: One more way to avoid human interaction

Expending the energy to swipe through the Starbucks’ app menu to order coffee first thing in the morning is hard, right? It would be much easier to just groggily command Siri to queue up the order — with extra sugar. 

At Starbucks Investor Day 2016, the coffee giant teased a new feature that will soon make its immensely popular mobile app even more intuitive: an AI-based voice command ordering system called My Starbucks Barista.

Surprise wintery beverage debuts at Starbucks today

Starbucks customers have been enjoying the 2016 holiday cups for nearly a month now – and the coffee company just launched a hot new winter beverage to accompany them.

Starting Dec. 2, Starbucks stores will offer their newest drink: Snickerdoodle Hot Cocoa.

Snickerdoodle Hot Cocoa is, “made with steamed milk, white chocolate mocha sauce and cinnamon dolce syrup topped with whipped cream and a dusting of cinnamon sugar,” Starbucks explained in a release sent to Mashable.

The new beverage joins three other cocoas on Starbucks’ menu: Peppermint Hot Cocoa, Salted Caramel Hot Cocoa and White Chocolate Hot Cocoa. Read more…

Starbucks releases hot baked apple lattes and Frappuccinos for Christmas

It’s starting to smell a lot like Christmas in Japan.

Starbucks on Thursday released its latest festive flavour in the country, baked apple, in the form of a hot latte and a Frappuccino ice-blended drink.

Baked apple joins the Starbucks Japan Christmas line up of gingerbread and pecan nut drinks.

According to Starbucks Japan’s blog, the hot baked latte is made with warm apple juice, and contains bits of caramelised apple and brown sugar and butter. Read more…

Meringue coffee kicks pumpkin spiced lattes to the curb

Your new holiday coffee obsession doesn’t have the words “peppermint” or “eggnog” anywhere in the name. 

Takeout Drawing in the Seoul, South Korea, offers a plethora of cakes, treats and drinks, but none is more beautiful or crave-worthy than the Paul’s Meringue Factory coffee drink.

This drink is simply espresso and milk topped with a snowy-peaked meringue cookie. Unlike whipped cream, meringue won’t melt into a drippy mess nor does it conventionally contain any dairy. You may dip your meringue or eat it sans-coffee bath but whatever you do, make sure you photograph it.  Read more…
