Nigel Farage, the former leader of the Ukip party and prominent Leave campaigner in the Brexit referendum in June, has been shortlisted for Time magazine’s person of the year award.
Farage is one of the 11 contenders named by the U.S. publication alongside U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Beyoncé and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“As head of the U.K. Independence Party, Farage was a face of the successful campaign for Britain to leave the European Union, positioning the referendum as the start of a global populist wave against the political establishment,” the magazine said. Read more…

Police in Washington, D.C. have arrested a man armed with an assault rifle who claimed he was investigating “#Pizzagate,” the fictitious conspiracy theory about Hillary Clinton running a child sex ring inside a restaurant.
Metropolitan Police received a phone call about a man with a weapon who had entered Comet Ping Pong, a popular bar and music venue in the affluent Friendship Heights neighbourhood.
The suspect, 28-year-old Edgar Maddison Welch of Salisbury, North Carolina, walked into the restaurant and “pointed a firearm in the direction of an employee of the restaurant”, police said in a statement. Read more…

Throughout Hillary Clinton’s historic presidential campaign, Katy Perry was there rallying for her. Now, Clinton is returning the favor.
At the UNICEF Snowflake gala at Cipriani Wall Street last night, Clinton made an impromptu appearance to introduce Perry, who was being honored with the Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Award.

Another Sunday, another instance of President-elect Donald Trump using Twitter to wade into a political minefield.
His target: Campaign adversary Hillary Clinton. Although the defeated Democratic candidate has yet to weigh in personally on the Jill Stein-led move to recount voting results in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, Marc Elias, the general counsel for Clinton’s 2016 campaign, signaled on Sunday that he’ll support and participate in any actions taken.

Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein has dominated the news cycle over the past four days after igniting a country-wide effort challenging the results of the election. And yet she’s making news here again with a bizarre little Twitter rant against Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump that has Twitter users… puzzled.

It looks like Jill Stein might get her recount.
On Friday, the state’s Elections Commission announced that Stein, the Green Party presidential candidate, had officially filed for a recount, beating the deadline of 5 p.m. local time.
“The Commission is preparing to move forward with a statewide recount of votes for President of the United States,” Mike Haas, director of the Wisconsin Elections Commission, said in a statement.
Hass said that the commission would hold a teleconference with county clerks next week and that he anticipates “the recount will begin late in the week after the Stein campaign has paid the recount fee, which we are still calculating.” Read more…

Hillary Clinton’s neighbors are thankful for her this Thanksgiving.
Well-wishers decorated the corner of Clinton’s street in Chappaqua, New York, with signs that said “Thank you, Hillary” and “We are thankful for Hillary,” Clinton posted on Twitter.
“I was greeted by this heartwarming display on the corner of my street today. Thank you to all of you who did this. Happy Thanksgiving,” Clinton wrote.
