MacRumors Giveaway: Win a Powerstation USB-C XXL From Mophie

For this week's giveaway, we've teamed up with Mophie to offer MacRumors readers a chance to win a USB-C Powerstation XXL that's equipped with both USB-C and USB-A, so it can be used with a wide range of devices.

The USB-C XXL, priced at $149.95, features a 19,500 mAh battery, which Mophie says is enough juice to provide USB-C laptops (the MacBook specifically) with up to 14 hours of additional battery life.

Because it has both a USB-C and a USB-A port, the USB-C XXL can be used to charge all of your Apple devices, from the MacBook to the iPhone and iPad. The USB-C port offers up to 30W of charging, so it can fast charge your iPhone X, iPhone 8, or iPhone 8 Plus when combined with a USB-C to Lightning cable.

With fast charging, an iPhone X, iPhone 8, or iPhone 8 Plus can charge to 50% within 30 minutes, so that's a super handy feature to have available from a portable battery back. At 30W, this charger will work with the 13 and 15-inch MacBook Pro models, but the charging will go more slowly and you won't see much gain while the machines are in use.

Over a standard USB-A to Lightning or micro-USB, the USB-C XXL offers 2.4A quick charging capabilities to charge your devices faster.

Size wise, the Mophie USB-C Powerstation XXL is heftier than your average iPhone battery pack, but it's still portable at 6 inches long, 3 inches wide, and an inch tall, plus it looks quite nice with its fabric-wrapped body.

We have four USB-C XXL Powerstations to give away to MacRumors readers. To enter to win, use the Rafflecopter widget below and enter an email address. Email addresses will be used solely for contact purposes to reach the winners and send the prizes. Mophie Launches $150 ‘Powerstation USB-C XXL’ Aimed at New MacBooks

Mophie today announced the release of a new high capacity mobile battery called the Powerstation USB-C XXL, which is aimed at the latest MacBook and MacBook Pro models. The accessory includes a 19,500 mAh battery, which Mophie said will provide up to 14 hours of extra battery, or "more than one full charge" to a MacBook.

The Powerstation USB-C XXL includes one USB-C port and one 5V/2.4A USB-A port, so users can simultaneously charge an iPhone or iPad as they charge their MacBook. The top of the accessory is wrapped in a soft-touch fabric, which Mophie said helps keep other devices in a bag safe from scratches when traveling.

Mophie's new accessory can charge a MacBook at full speed thanks to included USB power delivery technology in the USB-C port, which can charge a connected MacBook at rapid charging rates of up to 30 watts. While 30 watts isn't enough to keep up with a MacBook Pro under heavy load, the battery can still recharge a MacBook Pro in sleep mode or at least slow the battery drain while the computer is in use.

Like other Mophie products, the Powerstation USB-C XXL also includes priority charging, so when it's connected to a wall adapter the battery pack will send power to a connected device first, then recharge itself.

Mophie's PowerStation USB-C XXL is available to buy for $149.95 on Mophie.com, Apple.com, and in Apple retail stores beginning today, although it hasn't yet appeared on Apple's website at the time of writing.

It's worth noting that there are other options on the market if you're looking for USB-C battery packs with power delivery specifications, all of which offer higher capacities at prices lower than Mophie's accessory, although Mophie's design standards and favored relationship with Apple contribute toward its products' popularity with consumers.

Mophie Launches Charge Force Cases for iPhone 7/7 Plus, Along With Attachable Powerstation Mini

Mophie today launched new Charge Force cases for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, introducing battery pack attachments and wireless charging features into the cases for Apple's newest smartphone line.

The Charge Force case for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus includes built-in magnets that align the leather case to any Mophie Charge Force base accessory, immediately powering up the iPhone when connected. Additionally, the Charge Force case is compatible with any other wireless charging systems, including those made by Qi, adding a wide array of wireless charging functionality to iPhone 7.

The company said that the new cases for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus provide protection from everyday wear and tear, and don't add "excess bulk" to the iPhone. There's also easy access to the iPhone's Lightning port so users can charge their iPhone through a wired connection, or use wired headphones and listen to music.
“mophie is committed to developing technologies that keep devices charged all day,” said Chris Ahern, President at mophie. “This case accomplishes that goal, not through additional batteries, but by making charging throughout the day effortless.”

The notably lean design of the case also protects from everyday wear and tear without adding excess bulk to your device. Raised corners provide added protection against scratched and cracked screens. Premium leather, TPU bezel and superior design strengthen the case’s durability.
Mophie also announced the Charge Force Powerstation mini, which offers users a quick and compact solution to charging their iPhone 7 when not near a wireless pad or AC port. The portable pack includes a 3,000 mAh battery that magnetically attaches to the back of the Charge Force iPhone 7 case, and charges up the iPhone when connected.

Both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus versions of Mophie's Charge Force leather case cost $59.95, and come in black, tan, brown, blue and (PRODUCT)RED. The Charge Force Powerstation mini costs $49.95 and works with both sizes of iPhone.

Mophie Launches Juice Pack Air Battery Case With Wireless Charging for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

Mophie today debuted the Juice Pack Air battery cases for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, bringing the company's signature battery case line to Apple's latest smartphones. In addition to featuring extended battery life in a slim design, the new cases also take advantage of Mophie's Charge Force wireless charging technology.

The case magnetically aligns with all other Mophie Charge Force accessories, like the wireless charging base, vent mount, desk mount, and Charge Force Powerstation battery. The case is also compatible with Qi and other wireless charging standards.

The iPhone 7 version of the Juice Pack Air comes with a 2,525 mAh battery while the iPhone 7 Plus version comes with a 2,420 mAh battery. Mophie says they boost total battery life of the phones up to 27 and 33 hours of talk time, respectively.

We've been able to spend a few minutes with the new cases, which carry the familiar two-piece slider design with a matte finish. As with all battery cases, they add a fair bit of bulk and heft to the iPhone, but the case feels good in the hand and is not overly cumbersome if you have a need for extended battery life.

The case's power and volume buttons for the iPhone have a high-quality feel, while the mute switch remains easily accessible. For those without Force Charge or other wireless charging solutions, the case charges with a standard micro-USB cable and supports pass-through charging of the iPhone first, followed by the battery case. Four LEDs on the rear of the case display the current case battery level at the press of a button, while a longer press on the button turns on and off charging of the phone from the case.

One downside relates to headphone connectivity, as with no built-in headphone jack and no direct access to the iPhone's Lightning port, wireless headphones are a necessity with this case.

Both Juice Pack Air variants are available for $99.95 each at Mophie's website and come in black, gold, rose gold, navy blue and Product (RED). The various Charge Force bases, mounts, and external battery are sold separately, but are generally available at discounted prices if purchased with a Juice Pack Air case.
