Another day, another scary AF example of an Australian animal tackling prey bigger than itself. As if the recently-spotted huntsman spider dragging a mouse around wasn’t enough. 

Queensland woman Melanie Jade Ottaway has spotted something even more impressive slash nightmarish: A spider grabbing hold of a whole gecko, holding onto it by the head. 

Ottaway and her partner were sitting down for dinner on Sunday evening when they noticed the “dinner-plate sized” spider (believed to be a huntsman) clinging to the glass door right next to them, with the sizeable gecko in tow.

She told Caters that despite the “gorgeousness” of the lizard, he was obviously doomed. “It was too late to save him, so we let nature take its path. It’s creepy isn’t it? But fascinating in a strange way.” Read more…

A group of installation artists have finally solved the excess tape problem that plagues our living rooms, in the most inventive way imaginable.

The TapeScape project has appeared around the world from America to Dubai, and now it’s Australia’s turn to play in tunnels made from nothing more than building scaffolds and tape.

Guy mistakes jellyfish for a fake breast, hands it in to confused police

Mistaken identity is a helluva thing, particularly when it comes to gelatinous blobs.

One Australian man has clearly been reading too many true crime novels, because last Friday, he mistook a washed-up jellyfish for something more sinister — a rogue breast implant. The concerned citizen even took his discovery to local police on the Sunshine Coast.

The embarrassment started when police at Maroochydore station politely informed the man that the damning evidence he had handed over was in fact the corpse of a jellyfish. Although not until they had bagged and tagged the “evidence” first. Read more…
