If for some reason you ever find yourself in possession of a bucket containing $1.6 million worth of gold flakes, here’s a pro tip: Don’t leave it unattended on the streets of New York.
Some high stakes thievery took place in broad daylight in September on West 48th St. between 5th and 6th Avenues in Manhattan (and just off the Diamond District) when a brazen man walked right up to an unattended armored truck, picked up the five-gallon bucket, and scampered off as passersby were none the wiser.
Police released surveillance footage of the man in hopes of tracking him down because no one else seemed to take notice of him. Read more…

Like an aggressive Halloween trick-or-treat, a courageous Australian service station attendant has defended himself from would-be robbers by pelting candy at them.
The attempted hold up took place early Sunday morning the town of Aberdare in the state of New South Wales, according to the Maitland Mercury.
A man wearing a balaclava and brandishing a metal bar copped it sweet in the CCTV footage, as the brave attendant threw both bags and fistfuls of candy at him through the store’s entrance.
The man then quickly gave up his robbery attempt, fleeing in a black Hyundai car he arrived in, with two other accomplices. Read more…
