‘Rogue One’ battles rage in this new ‘Star Wars: Battlefront’ trailer

Jyn Erso and Orson Krennic fight as heroes for the Rebellion and Empire, respectively, in the Rogue One: Scarif add-on for Star Wars: Battlefront.

This new trailer highlights some of what you can expect from the new location’s jungle-and-beachside action. It’s a welcome sneak preview of the battleground featured in the Dec. 16 movie.

The map pack comes to the game on Dec. 6 for Season Pass holders, or anyone that owns the recently released “Ultimate Edition” of Battlefront (which includes the season pass). A $15 a la carte DLC release will follow on Dec. 20, two weeks after the Season Pass early access starts. Read more…

Felicity Jones finally reveals which ‘Star Wars’ character would dance to Beyoncé

It’s impossible to watch any Stars Wars movie without wondering, “WHICH ONE OF THESE CHARACTERS WOULD DANCE TO BEYONCÉ?”

Finally, Felicity Jones has answered that question for us. Spoiler alert: it’s not Darth Vader.

She also reveals which character is most likely to get drunk at brunch, who is most likely to catcall a woman and who is most likely to re-gift your Christmas present. All designations, which have somehow never been given to these characters.

‘Rogue One’ tickets will be easy enough to come by, even with crazy pre-sales

No one’s saying Rogue One tickets are doing The Force Awakens-level ticket pre-sales — but even if they were, there’s just no cause for alarm.

If you want to be sitting in a movie theater as the Star Wars spinoff unspools on opening weekend, you will beYou will be.

Tickets went on sale Monday, followed by the inevitable widespread reports of site-crashing, long waits, and other bantha, errr, blog fodder.

So far neither Fandango nor Movietickets is reporting any hard numbers — it’s just not something they do — but they did say it was the biggest pre-seller of 2016. Hardly a surprise attack, that. Read more…

Diego Luna lookin’ sharp as an Imperial officer in this ‘Rogue One’ featurette

At least no one’s going to accuse Diego Luna of being a little short for a Stormtrooper.

Luna — who at 5’10” is only an inch taller than Mark Hamill — plays Rebel scum Cassian Andor in Rogue One. And as any Star Wars character doing all this sneakin’ around knows, the time will come to go incognito.

See Luna talk about his journey to Rogue One — as well as more than a few behind-the-scenes shots — in this featurette shared exclusively with Mashable

And as far as new-ishf footage here, watch carefully for that moment when Cassian casually strolls through an Imperial stronghold wearing an officer’s uniform: Read more…

Yoda warns about the dangers of seagulls in a new ‘Star Wars’ Bad Lip Reading

Yoda first told those pesky Dagobah seagulls to knock it off in the Bad Lip Reading for The Empire Strikes Back.

But now, Yoda is back with a full version of the song. Which is great timing, because now the single can still make some best of 2016 lists.

Because, (a little shockingly), the song is extremely catchy.

Hyped cinema staff can’t resist a ‘Rogue One’ Mannequin Challenge

Most #MannequinChallenge videos want to draw your attention to something. A good cause, or your dog’s ingenuity, perhaps.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story on the other hand, doesn’t need much help publicity-wise. But that won’t stop the Australians from standing completely still, while Rae Sremmurd plays in the background. Nothing will.

Event Cinemas, George Street in Sydney has played host to a Star Wars-themed #MannequinChallenge that sees storm troopers, Yoda, and an Australian flag-emblazoned Darth Vadar frozen in time, battling hapless humans.

Hey, at least this installation injects a healthy amount of pop culture into the endless trend. Read more…

Murderous K-2SO droid is our hero in new ‘Rogue One’ trailer

C-3PO just clutched his pearls.

A new trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story released late Friday night shows us more of the K-2SO droid that will apparently aid our heroes — and he’s definitely got a bit more bloodlust than his companions from the original trilogy.

Case in point: This moment where he immolates a number of Imperial stormtroopers…

He’s also kind of sassy. “I’ll be there for you — the captain said I had to,” he says in response to a rallying cry from the assassin Baze Malbus.

‘Rogue One’ tickets go on sale very, very soon

This is even better than a Tosche Station sale on power converters: Tickets for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will go on sale Monday, Nov. 28, the official Star Wars Twitter account announced Friday.

The movie releases Dec. 16, but if last year’s record-breaking pre-sale for The Force Awakens is anything to go by, you’ll want to snag your tickets nice and early. Theaters added showtimes to meet demand for Star Wars last year, but opening day tickets still sold out in many locations.

Granted, Rogue One isn’t expected to be quite as big of a deal as The Force Awakens — which was the first new, live-action Star Wars movie since 2005. Disney told investors to manage their expectations back in September.  Read more…

These ‘Star Wars’ phones are the Androids you’re looking for

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… there were no smartphones. But if there were, they probably would’ve looked something like this.

SoftBank, a Japanese telecom, debuted a slick duo of Star Wars-themed Android phones Friday. They come in “Dark Side” and “Light Side” flavors (of course)…

… with Imperial and Rebel icons emblazoned on the back of each device:

They’re loaded with Star Wars wallpapers referencing the original trilogy, with a nifty starship overlay depending on the phone (the black “Dark Side” version shows the lock screen through a TIE fighter window, while the white “Light Side” variant goes with an X-Wing cockpit): Read more…
